As an Internal Audit & Risk Apprentice, no two days are the same. You’ll work across a wide range of Council services and gain a deep understanding of how local government operates.

 

Your responsibilities will grow as your confidence and knowledge develop, including:

Supporting colleagues with audits by gathering evidence, testing controls, documenting findings, and preparing working papers.

Taking ownership of your own audit tasks as you progress, helping identify real issues and contributing to improvement recommendations.

Carrying out financial assessments of contractors and suppliers.

Coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) requests for the Risk Service and Finance Team.

Working collaboratively with teams across Risk, including Customer Standards, Insurance and Fraud.

Supporting the smooth running of the service through accurate records, documents, and administrative tasks.
